Hola,
So it's only Tuesday and this week already feels like a year has passed. It's going so slow, and all I want to do is get some sleep and not be stressed about the work that's ahead of me...
Today the city was coated with fog for most of the morning, which somehow caused traffic to be horrendously horrible. My bus was over 30 minutes late, making me late to class. It was a great start to the day...
However, in happier news, last night I helped a friend cook dinner for her family. It was interesting... We made chili, haystacks (basically like a taco salad), cornbread and Snickerdoodle cookies. The chili and haystacks were quite the success. However, the cornbread was basically disgusting.....no comment Colleen! We didn't have all the ingredients for the recipe we were using, as things are a little different over here in France, so we ended up substituting a couple of things here and there, and it failed...haha. But don't worry, we tried it before we gave it to the family, so they didn't have to suffer the awkwardness of saying it was good when it wasn't. The Snickerdoodles were good, they were just super flat and once we stacked them on the plate, they looked like a big cake more than cookies. We figure it was the butter that made them so melty and gooey. Oh well! Everything looked nice on the table!
It sounds like the strike at the University has come to an end, so class will resume tomorrow. Bummer :) I was pretty used to just not having it. After all I only had my class one time, over a month ago now.
Tomorrow Marie leaves for the United States to see her new grandson. She's so excited! She'll be gone for 10 days. It's kind of funny we'll be in each other's countries... On the other hand the boys of the household are not so excited about her absence. At dinner tonight we figured we could live off of quiche, pasta, bread and crepes for the time being....haha, we'll see how the week goes. It should be interesting. Christophe is worried he won't have any ironed shirts. Don't worry, I gave him the "you're a full grown man and you don't know how to iron your shirts!!??" look. I told him I wasn't going to do his laundry. So there.
I've also started thinking about my spring break at the beginning of April. I'll have two weeks and at this point I have no idea what I want to do. So if anyone has any fabulous suggestions or input on this matter, feel free to shoot me an e-mail and enlighten me! Planning vacation is stressful...
Alright, well once again, blogging is being used as a procrastination method and I have plenty of homework to do. But seriously, feel free to send me nice long e-mails filling me in on your lives so that I can have some breaks from my grueling devoirs de francais. Merci beaucoup.
Kelsey :)
p.s. I also just realized that yesterday at the grocery store i bought corn starch instead of corn meal...super. But apparently the stuff i bought has an excellent crepe recipe on the back, so maybe i'll try to make those instead.
